Agfa Transforms Network to Unshackle IT

Cost used to be the motivator for many transformation initiatives; nowadays, it tends to be alleviating human resources constraints.

This new trend is putting managed services and technologies that offer flexibility in the spotlight.

The latest is Agfa-Gevaert Group (Agfa), which develops, manufactures and distributes analog and digital imaging systems and IT solutions for printing, healthcare and industrial applications.

The Belgium-headquartered company, whose customers are in over 100 countries, announced that it is choosing Verizon Enterprise Solutions to transform its global network infrastructure.

Verizon’s managed network services and software-defined networking solutions will form part of Agfa’s global transformation that aims to drive future growth.

As part of the agreement, Verizon will take on the global management of Agfa’s entire network. It will free up Agfa’s IT department to focus on innovation in service and solution delivery.

Besides, Verizon's software-defined network solutions will allow Agfa to adapt its global network infrastructure to new business needs quickly, said a press release.

“Agfa has reinvented itself over recent years,” said Caroline van Rompuy, Agfa’s CIO.

“It’s important that our systems are able to support us as we continue to expand our product and solution portfolio – and most importantly, that they help us to better support our customers. This network transformation is a crucial element of our business strategy, and will deliver a flexible, scalable and agile global infrastructure fit to support our business today and into the future,” she added.
