Verizon Enterprise Solutions offered its take on IT technology trends for 2019 that will shape how companies will transform into real-time enterprises. It highlighted seven that all CDOs should take note:
- Real-time enterprise will transform how business works: In 2019, digital leaders will look to reinvent their operations to take advantage of disruptive technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) /machine learning, automation and robotics, augmented and virtual reality and the next-gen cloud including edge computing. The prize for those who can best leverage the advantages: future leadership.
- Businesses will invest in network performance: It’s all about the service model and the help needed to make network-reliant applications available. This includes the support, the professional services, service level agreements and more. Verizon Enterprise Solution sees more digital leaders looking for expert partners with the network expertise and capacity to deliver on your business objectives.
- We’ll remember that the customer is king: Personal experience of the big brands let us down in terms of CX. But AI will change that by enabling mass personalization possible. It will put the customer back in the center of the business opportunity. According to Verizon Enterprise Solution, the best organizations will use data to inform human engagement, remembering that this is what creates real relationships. Technology will help them to do this at speed and scale.
- We’ll focus on the transaction guarantee: In 2019, organizational success will be driven by how well organizations leverage software-defined networking (SDN). It is now beyond application-aware networking, and instead, about focusing on the transaction guarantee, and defining policies to support the specific application, time or location needs that will make the difference.
- Contextual privacy will be front and center: Application users are keenly interested in how their data is used, especially with the rise of data breach incidents. In 2019, Verizon Enterprise Solutions believes that we will begin to see a focus on contextual privacy requirements, linked to location-based awareness.
- Automation will transform the workforce: Robotic process automation (RPA) and machine learning will transform how business operates. It will also dictate what skills a business workforce needs. Verizon Enterprise Solution also sees educators and businesses beginning to focus on how to build a pool of data scientists and machine learning specialists to support future skills needs, instead of relying on the past curriculum.
- We’ll go back to basics on security (again), but also focus on specifics: It’s about understanding their risk environment, and ensuring they are doing the basics right to protect their business; practicing IT hygiene to keep infrastructure current to protect against vulnerabilities continues to be critical, said Verizon Enterprise Solution. Network-level security is essential – in a software-defined world, network segmentation and security is a central part of the design. But they’ll also increasingly need visibility on data to drive insights and ultimately decisions on how to mitigate against specific security threats.
“Our customers are seeking new approaches to gaining immediate insights into their operations and the customer –The ‘Real-Time Enterprise’ is definitely where they want to be, whatever the stage of their journey, and wherever they are located around the globe,” said George Fischer, President of Verizon Enterprise Solutions.
“It’s no longer about digital transformation – that’s a given and is accelerating, driving the need for real-time insights. It’s about how they can build and manage digital to change their business opportunity moving forwards,” he added.
