Swedish technology company Hexagon has launched a cloud-based digital twin solution to support asset managers.
The solution from Hexagon will provide utilities and telcos with a geospatial solution that provides a single source of accurate, up-to-date information on assets.
Hexagon, whose parent company is the famous camera group Leica through the Leica Geosystems subsidiary, says the system is designed to enable digital transformation of network planning and operations and allows utilities and telcos to create digital twins.
HxGN NetWorks in the cloud claims to be the only fully managed SaaS geospatial asset management solution for utilities and communications.
In addition to providing all features and functions of the on-premises HxGN NetWorks suite, the cloud-based solution includes hosted IT infrastructure and preventive and corrective maintenance services, allowing companies to reduce capital expenditures.
HxGN NetWorks helps utilities and telecommunications providers build digital twins of their physical networks, topology and assets. It is a flexible and integration-ready geospatial asset management solution that provides a single source of accurate, up-to-date information and a full spectrum of tools for different users across the business.
NetWorks is used by more than 600 customers worldwide to design, build, manage and maintain physical networks, including electric, gas, water, wastewater, multi-utility and fiber.
The cloud-based solution also has built-in cybersecurity features, including identity and access management, encryption and threat detection. It also allows companies to better store and analyze the large amounts of data generated by smart grid devices to make more informed network operations decisions.
In May 2023, Hexagon was chosen by municipal authorities in Span to create a 3D platform to simulate potential environmental issues that could affect the region and the Menor Sea, a coastal saltwater lagoon adjacent to the Mediterranean in southeast Spain.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division aims to improve the resilience and sustainability of the world's critical services and infrastructure. It combines sensor, software and autonomous technologies solutions to turn complex data about people, places and assets into meaningful information for better, faster public safety, utilities, defense, transportation and government decision-making.
