In the dog-eat-dog world of AI, where every millisecond and cent counts, New Relic and NVIDIA have forged an alliance that could be an industry game-changer. Their new integration aims to streamline the messy, expensive, and often opaque process of building and managing GenAI applications.
But what does this mean for the average tech enthusiast and AI engineer?
Think of observability as an X-ray vision for AI, revealing the inner workings of complex models and infrastructure. It’s the secret weapon that allows businesses to deploy AI quickly, confidently, and without breaking the bank.
New Relic chief executive officer Ashan Willy says, “In today’s hyper-competitive market, organizations cannot afford to wait years for AI ROI.”
This partnership is particularly timely, given Gartner’s prediction that over 80% of enterprises will use or deploy GenAI applications by 2026. The pressure is on, and the stakes are high.
New Relic isn’t just promising a smoother ride; they’re claiming to accelerate the return on investment for AI applications built with NVIDIA’s NIM microservices. This includes model inventory, model comparison, deeper GPU insights and better data security. Essentially, they’re promising a more holistic view of the AI stack, tracking everything from throughput and latency to the dreaded costs that can spiral out of control.
Perhaps the most intriguing feature is their ability to trace the entire lifecycle of AI responses. This means they can identify and address issues like bias, toxicity, and those bizarre “hallucinations” that AI models sometimes produce. It’s a level of transparency that could revolutionize how we understand and trust AI.
NVIDIA’s NIM microservices are the backbone of this integration, providing the raw power and optimized performance that AI applications crave. The partnership supports many AI models, including big names like Databricks, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Snowflake.
This integration is more than just a technical feat; it’s a step towards a future where AI is not a black box but a transparent and accountable tool. Peter Marelas, New Relic’s chief architect for APJ, notes: “Our support for NVIDIA NIM allows organizations to understand how their NVIDIA NIM deployments are performing in real-time.”
