The pandemic has shifted learning online for many educational institutions worldwide. As a result, cybersecurity has become an even more significant concern for these organizations.
Check Point Research discovered that, last year, the education/research sector was most targeted by cyberattacks, with an average of 1,605 attacks per week. That number is a 75% increase from what was seen the year before.
Despite these mounting threats, educational organizations often lack the resources to defend themselves properly. Schools have had to juggle a lot, from funding concerns to remote learning, over the past few years.
This is where Google Workspace for Education Plus comes in. It promises to help reduce the risk of cyber threats and the time needed to remediate them.
A recent study by Forrester Consulting entitled Total Economic Impact™ concludes that Education Plus is an effective way to improve security and reduce the time needed to address phishing incidents. Specifically, it can reduce the number of phishing incidents by up to 95%. This allows IT staff more time for additional security measures rather than managing current attacks.
Additionally, Google Workspace for Education Plus can help save administrators up to 300 hours annually on administrative tasks, such as producing reports. Usually, these processes can be time-consuming and distracting from more important duties. However, with Education Plus, reports can be generated up to 80% faster.
Google Education Plus also provides email filtering and security features to help organizations quickly prevent, detect, and remediate incidents. This investigation tool can help save IT staff up to 98% of the time they typically spend addressing phishing attacks.
To see how much an organization or company could benefit from Google Workspace for Education Plus, Google has created an Education Plus Impact Calculator. This tool allows users to input data about their organization, answering 10 questions. Afterwards, they will receive a custom impact report outlining the benefits and cost savings of using Education Plus.
Google also offers a product demo for Education Plus. This is a way for interested parties to explore the interface and see how their institution could use the premium features. For example, the demo includes the investigation tool, security dashboard, advanced admin controls, Google Meet, and originality reports.
Google Workspace for Education offers several editions with different features and price points. Education Plus is the top-tier edition, which includes all the mentioned features. However, it is essential to note that while Education Plus can be an effective way to improve security, it is not a cure-all.
