Data, once formerly associated with mundane spreadsheets and dry reports, has evolved into a dynamic source of business intelligence, innovation, and competitive advantage. However, the global surge in data generation and the stringent regulatory environment have put data management at the epicenter of several technological challenges and opportunities.
In a significant step towards a more secure and scalable solution for managing global data movement and integration, Fivetran, a company growing its reputation in automated data movement, has broadened its cloud regions across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
According to a recent report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), 71% of countries now have data protection regulations. Fivetran's expansion aims to give businesses the scalability and flexibility to manage data on multiple cloud platforms while satisfying stringent data residency and data sovereignty requirements.
With this new development, companies can now expect to make data-driven decisions without jeopardizing the security of their information.
“Our multicloud approach provides our customers with the scalability and flexibility they require as they expand into new markets, optimizing their cloud provider usage and improving performance and efficiency,” said Amy Peterson, senior group product manager at Fivetran. “At the same time, we are able to help global enterprises address strict data residency and sovereignty requirements stemming from GDPR and rapidly evolving data privacy regulations around the world.”
Supporting customers across more than 25 global cloud regions, Fivetran caters to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) users, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. Over the past year, Fivetran has launched nine new cloud regions and plans to inaugurate a cloud region in the United Arab Emirates shortly.
The strategic expansion has already begun, with businesses like Autodesk, DoorDash, Elsevier, Okta, and Penguin Random House using Fivetran in the new regions to gain business insights.
Anoop Lalla, vice president of data and insights at Okta, explains: “Our data team’s north star is to empower the organization with trusted and transparent data. By partnering with Fivetran, we can provide complete data visibility at scale, allowing us to meet performance and governance requirements while delivering a frictionless, secure, and seamless experience for our customers.”
Data integration and movement have long been tedious tasks for data teams. Fivetran's approach aims to eliminate the burden of building and maintaining data pipelines, centralizing data in a cloud data lake or cloud data warehouse. Their prebuilt pipelines deploy in minutes and automatically adapt to source API and schema changes. The expansion of their cloud data regions provides companies with the automated data access required to run their businesses effectively.
