The demand for Everything-as-a-Service (XaaS) is surging, not less in India, where enterprises are swiftly changing how they deploy and manage their digital infrastructure.
The Indian digital landscape is crucial, with about 40% of enterprises prioritizing consumption-based models for workload deployment, according to the IDC Future of Digital Infrastructure 2022 Global Sentiment Survey.
Recognizing this trend, Equinix aims to provide a comprehensive solution that merges physical hardware control with the agility and cost-effectiveness of cloud services. This initiative is expected to bolster the competitive edge of digital leaders in the region. The company is launching two services, Equinix Metal® and Equinix Network Edge, in Mumbai.
Manoj Paul, managing director of Equinix India, emphasizes the importance of this advancement. "The future of digital enterprises hinges on strategically placing the right infrastructure closer to customers, seamlessly interconnecting data and applications, and easily obtaining services on a pay-per-use basis," he states. Equinix Metal and Network Edge are designed to empower customers with rapid IT infrastructure deployment capabilities without needing physical infrastructure ownership or deployment.
Equinix Metal has already garnered attention from digital leaders for its automation and interconnectivity features. Nirvana Labs, a user of Equinix Metal in multiple global locations, praises its diverse machine types, rapid lead times, and advanced interconnection services. Devin Bandara, chief executive officer of Nirvana Labs, highlights Equinix's support and robust provisioning software, which allows them to focus on delivering state-of-the-art cloud solutions in the web3 sector.
Equinix Network Edge, an open-source x86-based infrastructure platform, offers an ecosystem of virtual network function (VNF) services. This platform enables enterprises to deploy virtual network services at a predictable cost and build large-scale virtual infrastructure deployment strategies. It also provides the best cloud connectivity, allowing companies to deploy network services faster and cover a broader geographic area.
With an impressive selection of VNFs from industry-leading vendors and a commitment to expanding its offerings, Equinix is positioning itself as a critical player in the as-a-service consumption model. This model is increasingly relevant as enterprises seek to deploy digital-ready infrastructure rapidly.
The impact of adopting Equinix's Digital Services is significant, as highlighted by The Forrester Total Economic Impact study. Benefits include a 10x increase in the speed of deploying infrastructure changes, a 142% return on investment, a 60% decrease in internal data infrastructure costs, and a USD5.7 million increase in operational productivity over three years.
