It’s not often that companies see companywide HR transformation in the light of company growth; many often view it as a costly endeavor in a challenging business environment.
Sime Darby thinks otherwise.
In a recent announcement, the Malaysia-headquartered Asia Pacific trading player is looking to streamline its various HR processes to support its regional growth strategy better. It also sees the HR transformation as crucial for its digital transformation success.
The company is working with Workday to transform its HR. The new HR transformation project will give the employee experience a significant facelift and looks to complete it by mid-2023. Around 20,000 employees in 18 countries will stand to benefit from the expansion.
Roselaini Faiz, the group chief human resources officer at Sime Darby, sees the benefits of having a positively engaged workforce due to this transformation, which will be done in phases.
“Sime Darby believes a positively engaged workforce boosts productivity, reduces turnover, strengthens internal company culture, and increases customer satisfaction. Our collaboration with Workday aspires to streamline and harmonize our human resource processes to leverage on analytics and to actively involve employees in achieving organizational goals,” she explained in a press release.
The project looks to bring together the around 20,000 employees working in 18 countries as the company sets sights on its growth ambitions.
“Our aim at the end of this journey is to connect with and leverage on our 20,000 strong employees across 18 countries and to accommodate future expansion plans in our efforts to meet the Group’s aspirations,“ Faiz added.
Sandeep Sharma, president of Asia at Workday, added that the HR transformation initiative would consolidate all HR data.
“In a fast-changing world, business leaders must get the most value out of their data to address challenges and be prepared to seize new opportunities. Having a single source for all your people data and insights can empower everyone in the organization to make more agile, informed decisions, and create an enabling experience for employees — and in doing so, bring your business and workforce into the future,” Sharma said, in the same press release.
